Flood Mapping - State Government Response

We have now received a response from the Deputy Premier, Jarrod Bleijie MP following our formal request to suspend the Logan Plan.
Two key statements stand out:
📌 “I am aware of the significant community concerns about flood mapping…”
⭕ This confirms that the concerns of Logan residents have been recognised at a State level.
More importantly, the response goes further 👇
📌 The State Government “anticipates a significant review of the draft flood mapping… to ensure that responding to natural hazards is appropriately balanced…”
⭕ This is significant.
It indicates that the State Government has made it clear to Council that 👇
✔️ The current mapping is not considered final.
✔️ A substantial review is expected.
✔️ The outcome must meet an acceptable balance between risk, safety, and development.
While the Logan Plan has not been suspended, there is now a clear expectation that the flood mapping MUST be properly addressed and resolved.
This is an important step - but there is more work to be done.
We will continue to advocate for transparency, fairness, and outcomes that properly reflect the risks faced by our community.
