Logan City Council was not legally required to build the Flood Portal, with Mayor Jon Raven confirming there was no statutory obligation to create it.
While councils are required to map flood hazards and provide public planning information, Logan already had existing systems in place, including the PD Hub and publicly available TLPI flood overlays.
Concerns have now been raised about why a separate Flood Portal was created, how much ratepayer money was spent building and maintaining it, and whether the portal presents complex long-term planning models and worst-case flood scenarios without enough context for the public.
